Southern Nagano Yakiniku BBQ festival in Iida

Southern Nagano Yakiniku BBQ Festival(南信州焼肉天国) took place in downtown Iida city, Nagano prefecture on 29 November 2025. Total 144 persons, including several Japanese attending from outside of Nagano, enjoyed Iida style yakiniku, Japanese style BBQ. Usually yakiniku is eaten inside the building but the festival had 34 portable stoves and 68 benches placed on the street. Not only the mayor of Iida, but also mayors from Kitami and Ishigaki attended the festival.

The festival took place in downtown Iida

Iida is known as a city of yakiniku due the city has the highest number of yakiniku restaurants per 10,000 residents in Japan. Then, Iida-style yakiniku is characterized by its frequent use of mutton and beef offal. In addition to meat, the sauce to dip the meat is more spicy than other sauces used in Tokyo.
